UKHospitality opens awards to café sector
For the first time, UKHospitality is welcoming entries to its prestigious 2018 Operations Managers Awards from multi-site area and operations managers working in the coffee shop/café sector.
Nominations for entries are now open for this year’s awards, which recognise the skill, professionalism and flair that the best operations managers bring to a wide range of hospitality businesses.
The top 20 nominees will become finalists, spending a day in the field with a mentor judge before finals’ judging, which includes interviews lead by panels of leading industry professionals to test the candidates’ knowledge, insight and potential.
In previous years, entries have been kept within the licensed hospitality sector, but UKHospitality (formed earlier this year by a merger of the Association of Licensed Multiple Retailers and the British Hospitality Association) is now bringing together all aspects of hospitality, from coffee shops to hotels to contract caterers.
“Under UKHospitality, the Ops competition is reaching ever-outwards to include multi-site managers of coffee shops, be they directly managed or franchised,” the founder of the awards, Nick Bish told Coffee Business World.
All entrants are required to complete an entry paper.
In 2017, area manager of the year was Emma Deabill of Yo! Sushi - pictured above with UKH’s chief executive Kate Nicholls (left), chairman Steve Richards and Nick Bish (right). This year’s winner will be announced at a gala ceremony on October 15.
