Teapigs opens pop-up shop

Teapigs has opened its first pop-up shop this week (August 14-19) at the Old Truman Brewery in East London.

Acting as a ‘toe in the water’ for a future shop, it will also raise money for charity with ‘every penny spent’ at the pop-up, and from a host of events taking place this week, being donated to the Point Foundation, which helps vulnerable members of the tea growing communities in Rwanda, where Teapigs sources the ‘vast majority’ of its everyday brew.

With its entire range of teas available, Teapigs is promoting the pop-up as ‘a must visitor for tea lovers and any businesses who want to up their tea game’.

“If we had a pound for every time someone told us we need to open a shop, well… we’d probably have enough to open a shop by now so we’re finally doing it. If it goes well, who knows, maybe it’ll become a more permanent thing,” said Louise Cheadle, Teapigs co-founder and tea taster.

She continued: “We’re committed to supporting the communities that bring us our tea. We make a donation to the Point Foundation charity in Rwanda with every pack of everyday brew we sell and we match donations our customers make online. The money raised improves the lives of vulnerable young people in the area and we’ve raised over £200k so far. We’re so pleased that the profits from this pop up will all go towards supporting our ethical scheme and we’re excited to do more – with everyone’s help - as we grow!”

The shop is open until Sunday (August 19) from 8am until 9pm.
