Eden Project launches Nespresso compatible range

The Eden Project has launched a range of compostable coffee capsules that directly address the problem of waste plastic.

The new technology means that users no longer need to peel off the foil, empty the coffee and sort the components into separate recycling bins. The capsules can just be added to a composting bin, compost heap or food recycling bin.  

The range consists of four organically grown coffees - Colombian, Guatemalan, Costa Rican and Italian Espresso Decaffeinated.

Steven Phelps, commercial director of Fresh Coffee, which produces the coffee for the Eden Project said: “The Eden Project coffee ranges are pioneering sustainability as a core theme and this range of Nespresso home-compostable capsules will build on the zero carbon roasted ground coffee range.”

The Eden Project compostable capsules are produced in Italy and are manufactured under licence in a new state of the art €50M roastery in Italy by Ultramar Caffès.

The Nespresso compatible capsules are being sold into both out of home and retail outlets.

 

Lincoln & York launches Cold Brew coffee

Lincoln & York, the coffee manufacturer, has developed a new cold brew coffee aimed at bars, restaurants and cafes.

Black Eye Cold Brew is the first brand created by Lincoln & York and will be aimed at providing cold coffee as stand alone, or as a mixer in mocktails and cocktails. Its aim is to capture the declining consumption of coffee over the summer months.

The product has been crafted with a blend of Arabica beans from Guatemala, Brazil and Colombia. It has a 14-hour brewing time that does not come into contact with hot water to bring to the fore the chocolatey, caramel and boozy flavours. It is supplied in a 10 litre ‘Bag-in-Box’ containing 30 to 40 servings and allows for ambient storage with a shelf life of up to nine months.

 

Something & Nothing launches Cucumber Seltzer

Something & Nothing, a new start-up drinks company, has launched its debut product to the market called Cucumber Seltzer. 

It is a low calorie, lightly carbonated seltzer drink made from natural ingredients. It has been designed to appeal to people’s changing desire for healthier options. 

The drink is sold in 330ml cans and the drinks company has plans to roll-out more flavour variants.

The Cucumber Seltzer variant is designed to work as a stand-alone drink or as a mixer with premium spirits.

It is rolling out to the out of home market and is already stocked in Origin Coffee and will soon be stocked in Taylor Street Baristas.

 

Fentimans launches new Sparkling Raspberry soft drink

Fentimans is launching a new raspberry flavoured soft drink to add to its range of beverages.

According to the drinks company, the Sparkling Raspberry variant has been developed to offer a “grown-up soft beverage” with the bitter-sweet characteristics of the British fruit.

Fentimans marketing director, Andrew Jackson, said: “As a pioneer of craft beverages and a flavour innovator, it is satisfying to see an increased number of people seeking premium alternatives to ordinary carbonated drinks.

“The introduction of Sparkling Raspberry will continue to build our appeal with a younger audience, who actively seek out interesting brands, which deliver on provenance and quality.”
