European Coffee Expo ‘Exhibitor Spotlight’: JURA UK
Each week we’ll be bringing you the latest news, exhibitor profiles, visitor information, conference speakers and more to keep you up-to-date with what’s going to be happening at European Coffee Expo, which takes place at London’s Olympia on May 22-23.
Here we turn the spotlight onto JURA UK, the luxury Swiss coffee machine manufacturer, which will be exhibiting on Stand B15.
- What are the main products you will be exhibiting at European Coffee Expo?
“JURA – luxury Swiss coffee machine manufacturers – will be showcasing its all-new professional bean-to-cup coffee machines at European Coffee Expo. Between them, the X6 and the X8 feature more than 10 coffee specialities, boast intuitive operation, ultra-modern design, and can even be programmed and monitored remotely with the JURA App. Both individually handcrafted machines, which are designed to complement the modern hospitality environment, feature the brand’s patented Pulse Extraction Process (P.E.P.®) and the AromaG3 grinder, to guarantee the perfect coffee every time. Each machine is also easy to care for with its Intelligent Water System (I.W.S.®) which provides optimum water quality.”
- What do you see as the key current opportunities and challenges for the sector right now? In addition, how are you responding?
“The UK’s speciality coffee market is booming, as the modernised coffee shop experience becomes mainstream and more emphasis is placed on specific roasts and espresso-based drinks. Its heightened status has prompted consumers to become more educated on the beverage and discover alternative options and flavours. Shorter specialities are gaining momentum and the Flat White has become increasingly popular.
“We’ve seen greater demand for premium coffee as consumers turn away from the mass market in search for high-quality products. Coffee has become a lifestyle drink, not only is it a wake up ritual but it’s also a means to catching up with friends and a pivotal part to any shopping trip. Other occasions that operators should look to capitalise on include the growing love for out of home breakfast – by serving a quality coffee to accompany food.”
- Why European Coffee Expo? What attracted you to exhibit at this show?
"We are looking forward to showcasing all of our products, including the latest additions, at European Coffee Expo, which is an important business platform for our brand, and for the coffee category as a whole. JURA is the perfect choice for food service operators and caterers, looking for coffee machines that are elegantly designed, technologically innovative and guaranteed to produce consistently high quality coffee.”
Innovation, precision, quality, reliability, sustainability and service shape the DNA of JURA. Since 1931, the Swiss company JURA Elektroapparate AG has been developing innovative high-end household appliances.
As a pioneer in the field of automatic espresso/coffee machines JURA has been a main contributor to the household appliance sector since the middle of the 1980s. Now, the company uses its experience and know-how for the development of semi-professional appliances for the office and foodservice sector.
The traditional Swiss brand has now become a global player. The main office of the company is located in Niederbuchsiten, Switzerland. JURA is represented in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, the US, the UK, Australia, Spain, Sweden and South-East Asia by its own sales organisations and joint ventures. In many parts of the world the company is entering the market closely cooperating with distributors.
With its headquarters in Niederbuchsiten, Switzerland, JURA Elektroapparate AG continued to write its successful growth story in 2017. The company sold 366,000 automatic speciality coffee machines last year. This is up 45,000 on the previous year, representing an increase of 14% in the number of units sold. JURA also recorded similarly strong growth in turnover, rising to reach CHF 480 million in 2017. ‘Our growth was driven by successful sales of two products from the current automatic coffee machine range, globally thriving JURA markets and the outstanding framework conditions created by the global economic recovery and stable exchange rates,’ CEO Emanuel Probst told the assembled media at the press conference at JURA's headquarters. For the current year, all the signs are once again pointing to success. In 2018 JURA is aiming to achieve further growth.
